Stacked is about reducing the amount of data that must be transmitted
and stored to create a new branch.  Everyone agrees that not requiring
full history ("history horizons" / "shallow branching") would be nice,
but we are doing stacked as a first step because the time/space
advantages by themselves are compelling.
