As I posted earlier, our handling of 'symlink_target' is a bit loose as to
whether it is a plain string or a unicode string. We don't really support
non-ascii targets in our code base (there are lots of places that would need to
be changed to support it). So this just adds one more (which already had it in a
different way.)
