Just that you don't accidentally expand something you didn't realize. Or in,
say, documentation about the $Revision$ parameter. The use cases I can come up
with are pretty marginal, but if you have *lots* of possible expansions it might
be reasonable.

I probably would like to not rule it out as a possibility, but that doesn't mean
it has to be possible now.
