Unable to convert Subversion path … because it contains characters invalid in Bazaar.

To clarify, the above behaviour is unaffected if I specify the command
as any of the following:

    bzr> checkout http://svn.wolffelaar.nl/lintian/trunk/ lintian.trunk/
    bzr> checkout http://svn.wolffelaar.nl/lintian/trunk/
    bzr> checkout http://svn.wolffelaar.nl/lintian/trunk

So it's apparently nothing to do with the way I'm specifying the
command; Bazaar understands what I'm asking for just fine. Yet it
fails early in the process with the above error message.
