How do I list removed and unknown files only?

Thanks for pointing that out.

Would it also make sense to get rid of the other commands "added", 
"removed", "conflicts" in favor of this command? The user could always 
alias these commands to the same thing using ls.

It would be nice that the user could list multiple sections in the one 
ls command as well:

bzr ls --added --removed

instead of:

bzr ls --added
bzr ls --removed
