Aaron and John made some comments on the list that should be addressed. 
And as Alexander says, an improvement like this deserves a NEWS entry.

You also need to update the help text for the check command, which talks 
mainly about "branches".  In particular, I think it should be explicitly 
explained in the help that "bzr check" in the root of a shared 
repository will check all branches as well as the repository.

I also wonder if we should provide a --repo-only option, to avoid 
scanning for and checking branches if all you want to check is a shared 
repository.     I guess so long as scanning for and checking branches is 
cheap enough it doesn't matter.

Thanks for this work, it's a real improvement.  I'm marking it 
"resubmit" simply because of the large number of comments made by all 
the reviews together; there's enough changes requested that a second 
look at the result would be worthwhile (even though most changes will be 
pretty small).
