[MERGE] Make pack formats non-experimental, rich-root formats non-hidden, and mark subtree ones as experimental.

OK, I've readded the hidden flag as well in the attached directive. The
subject of this email summarizes the final result.

I was aware of this, but I thought it only verified the contents of the
patch. My previous patch only contained comments after the @@ lines.
I've refrained from doing that this time.
