I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand, it is nice to be specific.
On the other hand, it makes communication harder: instead of saying "the
filenames will be prefixed with old and new", you have to say "the
filenames are prefixed with the revision numbers of their respective
trees". It also isn't well defined because revisions that aren't in the
ancestry of the branch don't have revision numbers, and the working tree
never has a revision number. Finally, from a technical standpoint,
propogating the tree prefixes from the spot where they can be cheaply
determined looks painful.
That looks mostly negative, but I really am on the fence. If other
people think it's a good idea and remaining issues are overcome, I'd be
happy with it.
