On Debian/Ubuntu bzr packages

Hello. Sorry that I arrive late to the discussion and opening a new
thread. I missed the original discussion for being busy with RL matters.

I just wanted to pop in to make one point clear: it is my intention to
keep on uploading shortly after each upstream release you make (rc and
final) packages of bzr to debian unstable, and I can personally not
foresee any problems with doing so during the freeze as well: they'll
just not migrate to testing anymore (and if any problems arise, there is
always the possibility of uploading to experimental).

What I mean is, that at least as long as I'm around, there should be a
constant availability of source packages from which to derive Ubuntu
packages for prior releases (prior to hardy in this case), both rc and
final releases.

Robert, I hope this addresses your concerns about that flow stopping at
some point, like it happened last year. I thought I'd mention once and
for all, since it gets tiresome to always read the same concerns, when
precisely I'm planning on not letting that happen. (FWIW it wouldn't
have happened last year either, should I not have been unavailable for
health reasons.)

                                 * * *

Regarding PPA, I'll just note MHO that I think it would be very good to
open the possibility to make bzr uploads for Ubuntu to a slightly wider
group of people, since that could mean having the packages available
faster with less pressure for specific people. And, with my plans for
Debian above explained, those uploads to PPA could be made by mostly
anybody (mostly a matter of editing the changelog, if I'm not mistaken).

If any problems with those builds arise from a packaging POV, I'd be
happy to receive a ping and make the necessary changes in the Debian
packaging to aid building in Ubuntu, or else, which the changelog shows
I'm keen on.

Regarding Debian stable releases not being covered by PPA, as mentioned
elsewhere in the threads, those should be covered by backports.org, to
where I'm uploading regularly as soon as bzr migrates to testing.

Cheers,
