I think revisions that are not yet merged are an unusual case.  So I'd
prefer they were the exception to the "only show revnos" rule.

revnos are all you need most of the time.  Revision ids are not pretty.
 If we need them, we should use them.  But if they can be avoided,
that's my preference.
