[MERGE] Checkout into existing trees works

Hi all,

Occasionally, we need to turn an existing directory into a checkout of a
branch.  While it's possible to checkout into a temp directory and then
move the .bzr directory, a more direct approach would be nice.

As it turns out, we can just remove the mkdir, since Branch.checkout
does transport.ensure_base anyhow.
