I guess I don't see why it should be a general-purpose flag, unless it's
a sop to SVN users.  Does anyone other than SVN users want this?

If there's not a big demand for it, surely individuals can just
configure their aliases appropriately.

Is there anyone who needs a shortcut for --short?  I think it's a prime
candidate for aliasing.  I doubt many people make use of both the
- --short and --no-short displays.

Do we need to reserve V for "--version"?
