[MERGE][Bug #113990] update command does not print summary of changes made (like the pull command does)

Daniel,

Is it easy to fix the code to address this? I'd like to get this into
0.18 and it looks OK to me bar this issue. John has voted +1 on this
(though BB doesn't have his vote registered), so this is the main
blocker from getting this in from my perspective.
