bzr push fails with sftp for solaris host ?

Hi,
I am using bzr for some time now, but I always have a puzzling
problem when pushing to sftp. When I want to push to a remove machine I
can log to through ssh, I try:
bzr push sftp://user@host/~/boulot/papers
and bzr tells me
bzr: ERROR: syserr: File exists, file: boulot/papers/RobustSpeech2008
Which is strange because the given directory does not exists before I
call bzr (bzr creates it). Could this is be because the host runs
solaris and solaris ssh (I do not have problems with pushing through
sftp to my own machine, which runs Ubuntu) ?
cheers,
David
