I can confirm that Feisty have dbus 0.82.0, and that

import dbus.mainloop.glib

works there.

Now it seems like this is an optional step (if you want to change which
mainloop is used.)

So it might be possible to get around it, but I know Robert had some
difficulty getting the test suite to work properly (because you don't
want to run the whole mainloop and have it take over, you just want it
to run for a little while).
