package manager adding a lot of startup time penalty. At least on my Mac, having cElementTree installed from an egg added about 100-150ms of startup time. I'm not opposed to having it, but we should be aware of the costs involved. I would guess that other platforms would experience a smaller cost. And it should really be measured again before I would weigh in for or against it. John =:->
