This time I tried it it started doing something after a few minutes. I 
guess our server was under heavy load the first time. I think bzr-svn 
should display some information during this time because it really looks 
like it has hung.

Also once it started it consumed all memory and brought my system 
completely to its knees by the time it reached about revision 6000 in 
the fetching revision progress bar. It used over 500 MB by this stage. 
That seems like rather a lot. I notice there is a bug about memory leaks 
so this might be caused by that?
