Okay, I've had a chance to reproduce it now, and I agree: unique roots
are unevenly-supported in the 0.11 codebase, and probably ever since
TreeTransform was implemented.  +1 on your fixes.  I'll implement
WorkingTree4 for bzr 0.13.

I will not push for WorkingTree4 in 0.12, because the benefits to that
are pretty minor.  But I have the by-value commands implemented now, so
you can expect by-value nested trees in 0.13
