I think it is essential for long-lived clients to be able to explicitly
close a connection.

The Transport abstraction of bzrlib is a fantastic tool, and the lack of
 an explicit command to close a transport is it's biggest shortcoming.

For the specific uses cases I have, the lack of Transport.close() is not
really essential, since subprocesses needs to be used anyway.
