Well 'connect/disconnect' is more meant as the user-facing command, and
you can call it whatever you want internally.

But I'm not stuck on the old 'bind()' api, either. I think having
heavyweight checkouts of readonly branches is probably better than
preserving the old use cases.

So you can merge it if you want. Your code is fine.
