Me too.  I suspect William is using an MUA that leaves
everything after the -- start of sig marker. Or gmane
does it.

trivia time:
Mozilla/Netscape used to do this too.  Unfortunately even
if the message was just one in a digest, so that you might
not even see most of the digest!
