I realize that BZREDITOR was already BZR_EDITOR, although not
documented as such everywhere.

I've updated doc/configuration.txt to use BZR_EDITOR. BTW, this file
is redundant with the wiki.

If we deprecate BZRPATH (I'd suggest doing so with a message like "if
you disagree with this deprecation, pls send a mail to bazaar-ng at ...")
and merge my patch for BZREMAIL, we're therefore consistant.

I thought the same, but you finally convinced me to do so. My updated
branch tests that BZREMAIL still works but issues a warning. I'm
