Hi all,
This patch removes support for basis knits.
The idea of basis knits was that they could speed up the generation of
remove versions of texts, by allowing some knit records to be retrieved
from a local knit, while records not present in the local knit were
retrieved remotely.
In fact, basis knits have never been used, and are not tested by the
test suite. Their main function is fairly esoteric, because we usually
fetch things into local repositories before trying to build revisions.
My recent log performance updates have pretty much obliterated basis
knit usage, but this patch actually closes the door on them, turning
basis_knit into a no-op deprecated parameter.
