No, really, pycairo is ok. The error OP sent in the other mail was
'gtk.gdk.Window has no attribute cairo_create', which indicates that pygtk is
either too old (from time when there was no gdk_cairo_create to bind) or was
compiled without pycairo (I suppose it tries to be gtk-version independent
and therefore can be compiled without features new in gtk 2.8).
