Then, this should be stg like

* A new storage format, 'knit', has been introduced and is now the 
default. It has the interesting property of being append-only, and 
indexed. This improves disk performance ... bla bla bla ...

Well, something that sounds like something really new, because I think 
this, with the metadir format are the major improvements of this 
release, it shouldn't be hidden in the NEWS file.
