I totally agree. The one issue I do see is what to do with colocated
branches. For a standalone branch having the repository and the branch
life at the same url is fine, but when there are multiple branches, I'd
prefer not having a branch at the root.

Having to delete the root branch every time does not sound optimal, can
this be done better?
