Assertion error in get_inventory_xml

I'm not sure why you are having such problems. Quite a few of us use it
as our primary (only) source management system.

It shouldn't be asking for a revision whose id is None. So there is
definitely a bug here.

Is your branch publicly available so that we can see if we have the same
 problem?

When I try to do
bzr log http://chrisseaton.skylis.net/projects/clifton/bzr

It tells me that there are no revisions. Did you actually do a "bzr
commit" after you did the 'bzr init; bzr add'?

Otherwise, that is probably what you are experiencing. (That there is no
data to be pushed to the remote SFTP machine, or pulled from it, because
you haven't committed anything yet).

Obviously the error messages need to be more helpful.
