Why not use the clean-tree plugin from bzrtools? It does the same afaics:

| $ bzr help clean-tree
| usage: bzr clean-tree
|
| Remove unwanted files from working tree.
| Normally, ignored files are left alone.
|
| options:
| --detritus delete conflict files merge backups, and
| failed selftest dirs.(*.THIS, *.BASE,
| *.OTHER, *~, *.tmp
| --dry-run show files to delete instead of deleting
| them.
| --help, -h show help message
| --ignored delete all ignored files.

"clean-tree" describes a whole lot better what will be done when running the
command than "ignored --delete" does.
