Does not this approach to resolution guarantee more confusion?
By providing a local alias for an upstream tag one guarantees additional
collisions if one tries to send work back upstream. Better to adjust
the local tag.
Better yet would be to have collision-free canonical tag identifiers
augmented with user friendly nicknames.
