Thanks Gustavo, I've merged this, with a variation ...
get_merged_revisions was non incremental, which meant there was a large
delay before any output occured in big branches, magnified hugely for
remote branches.

So, I used branch.get_ancestry to generate the merged revisions for a
single revision on the fly, which means there is no big up front delay
while everything is scanned, and log of remote branches works (although
latency per revision still sucks ;)).
