Sorry. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I do belive that character
encoding is important.

The point is that this was a proof of concept, to show that using
the text format could be interesting for a few reasons. OTOH, I don't
plan to maintain it anymore, and unless this is taken as a real
candidate for inclusion, or the change would affect the results I've
shown somehow, I'm not even interested in fixes.

Don't take me wrong. I do appreciate your reviews. But this specific
piece of code is dead, unless some wizard with special powers brings
it to life. :-)
