Fancy branches versus Transports

How about we get back there after a little bit. I actually like the idea
of breaking everything for now, and making sure all the code is using
the correct interface.

I can instantiate a _Branch instead of LocalBranch so that it looks a
little bit better.

Then after a few revisions, we can move all of the _Branch code back
into the main Branch object.
