Really?  I haven't found a wget that worked with ntlm auth.

Can't answer this one.  The only FOSS program that I know of
that does NTLM auth for _proxies_ is firefox. 

I note that there exists a gnu libntlm library; i don't know if 
it works for proxies, which are more problematical compared to
most servers.
