Oh, pipelining's definitely a better theoretical solution.  The only
reason I even looked at async was because I wanted something that worked
everywhere.

But if HTTP pipelining works *nearly* everywhere, maybe that's good
enough.  Or maybe we can implement it in effbot and do both.
