As I just wrote on IRC:

With this patch applied, apache simple authentification works as 
expected again.

I also (finally) tested with 2.9 beta3 - it has the same bug, so please 
apply this patch in trunk also.

That said - this is one of the rare cases of
   Acked-by: Christian Boltz <apparmor at cboltz.de> for both trunk and 2.8
written next to a C patch ;-)
