This is due to a bug in older versions of pyflakes (pyflakes in ubuntu
12.04 has this issue):

I submitted a patch to work around it in the apparmor tree

based on the comment at
https://github.com/kevinw/pyflakes/issues/13#issuecomment-2144121
but never received any feedback, and wasn't sure it was worth adding.
