I can apply it to 2.5, even though it's not needed there; our
current release plans[1] don't include any more 2.5.x releases,
unless something serious came along that needed to be fixed. So it
would only get used if either that happened or someone decided for
some reason to stick to tip of that branch.

As to the patch's style, distributions are tightening the GNU
linker's behavior around indirect linking by default (e.g. see
http://wiki.debian.org/ToolChain/DSOLinking), so going forward, it's
a necessary style. (We already cleaned up a few other locations in
the apparmor tree within the natty development cycle.)

[1] It is open for discussion, if there's a user/distribution that sees
    a utility in a 2.5.3 release. I personally would like to avoid it,
    as it increases the burden on me to keep fixes straight across
    3 different branches (trunk, 2.6, and 2.5), but that doesn't
    necessarily preclude it from happening.
