Hello everybody,

I thought I'd give a quick update on how things are looking with the
apps brancher.

Good news:
 - A lot of apps have been successfully pushed to
   https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu-app-reviews
This makes it a lot easier to review apps and propose changes to
go into the app. Yesterday I worked a bit on the vm-lens app
and put up lp:~dholbach/ubuntu-app-reviews/vm-lens which is
   currently being reviewed.
 - pkgme deals nicely with a number of apps which didn't have
packaging before. It will be great to review the resulting
apps and find out how we can improve pkgme to do an even better
   job.
 - The brancher is more robust now and deals with .zip and .tar
files correctly. The log of the imports can be found at
   http://appbot.holba.ch/log/log.txt
 - You can easily branch it from lp:apps-brancher and run it
locally if you read the INSTALL file before.

TODO:
 - #1011532 bzr import of mixd.tv fails
 - #1008942 write actions to RSS (it'd be great to be able to
   subscribe to updated/new branches)
 - #1008998 Deal with .deb files (this needs a decision)
 - #1010527 Deal with text files
#1012064 Parse feedback page / initial comment for branch/ppa
information (these two should be great to have fixed)
 - #1012098 figure out what to do with branches-in-tarballs
(this one needs a decision too)
 - #1011451 Deal with .jar files

It'd be good to discuss a bit how we want to use the tool and what else
it needs to make it truly useful, so I'm looking forward to hear
questions and feedback. :-)

Have a great day,
 Daniel
