Problems with Gnome Batery Monitor

It simple doesn't indicate how much power the battery has, i install
acpi and apmd and doesn't work, with only one of them instaled doesn't
work either, any ideas?

About the instalation it work flawless, all hardware recognised in a
Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS, regulary I use Mandrake and very new to
Debian, but this distro install very very easy  and works great for my
necesities.
