Report on Hoary 5.04 installation

Hi,

Today I installed hoary 5.04 (the final release) for seeing if my bugs of rc
have desapeared and for testing.

I like to comment some things:

1) In the installation process (ubuntu-installer), I think that a phrase could
be translated more adequately in catalan. Where it says "Això pot trigar un
temps" I think it's better "Això pot trigar una estona" ["estona" is a little
more time than a generic "temps"].

2) A typo error in translation: there is a strange character at final of one
phrase:
"Els paquets nous següents s'instal·laran automàticament:<"

[there is "<" char at the end]

Can you comment these to catalan translator or I have to open bugs for these?

3) X window sets the default resolution of my monitor to 800x400 instead of
1024x600 (that it's my maximum resolution). On the rc release (and previous
releases (array-5 and 6)), ubuntu sets me monitor to right resolution (1024).
So this is final release specific bug.

I could run dpkg-reconfigure xserver, but I think that ubuntu should set
monitor to maximum resoltion by default in the installation.

And finally the bugs that I have in rc too (more of these are fallen):

4) I have put "ubuntu.canostra" in hostname, but during the installation the
hostname is setting with more names:

setting myhostname: ubuntu.canostra.canostra
setting alias maps
setting alias database
changing /etc/mailname
setting myorigin
setting destinations: ubuntu.canostra.canostra, localhost.canostra.canostra,
localhost
setting relayhost:
setting mynetworks: 127.0.0.0/8
setting mailbox_size_limit: 0
setting recipient_delimiter: +
setting inet_interfaces: loopback-only
/etc/aliases does not exist, creating it.

[I found it in the /var/log/installer/messages]

but when I run "uname -a" it returns me "ubuntu.canostra" (the /etc/hostname
has "ubuntu.canostra" only)

Strange "contradiction"?

5) I have

"abr 09 21:04:01 (install): El fitxer OMF
[/usr/share/omf/gnome-utils/gfloppy-ja.omf] no valida amb el DTD de
ScrollKeeper-OMF: /usr/share/xml/scrollkeeper/dtds/scrollkeeper-omf.dtd
abr 09 21:04:01 scrollkeeper-update: No es pot
registrar /usr/share/omf/gnome-utils/gfloppy-ja.omf"

that translated is:

"abr 09 21:04:01 (install): The file OMF
[/usr/share/omf/gnome-utils/gfloppy-ja.omf] not valid with the DTD of
ScrollKeeper-OMF: /usr/share/xml/scrollkeeper/dtds/scrollkeeper-omf.dtd
abr 09 21:04:01 scrollkeeper-update: Unable to
register /usr/share/omf/gnome-utils/gfloppy-ja.omf"

Matt said me that this is a bug. Are this filed in bugzilla? I could send more
output about this?

6) In /var/log/user.log I have

"Apr 9 21:04:42 ubuntu shutdown[28000]: shutting down for system reboot
Apr 9 21:06:07 ubuntu hal.hotplug[4394]: timout(10000 ms) waiting
for /bus/pci/slots
Apr 9 21:06:07 ubuntu pci.agent[6689]: Bad PCI agent invocation
Apr 9 21:06:48 ubuntu shutdown[7920]: shutting down for system reboot
Apr 9 21:11:59 ubuntu hal.hotplug[4389]: timout(10000 ms) waiting
for /bus/pci/slots
Apr 9 21:11:59 ubuntu pci.agent[6962]: Bad PCI agent invocation
Apr 9 21:12:35 ubuntu shutdown[8008]: shutting down for system reboot"

Matt says me that it could be a bug. How can I be sure?

7) In /var/log/installer/messages I have

"Setting up ntpdate (4.2.0a-11ubuntu3) ...
 * Synchronizing clock to ntp.ubuntulinux.org...
Error : Servname not supported for ai_socktype
   ...fail!"

Matt another time ;-) says me that it could be a bug. Do you have more info
about it?

I post it in mailing list before in bugzilla for knowing if these bugs exists
and, anyway, if it's a trivial way for solving that. I prefer that instead of
create more and more bugs in buzilla.

For the other hand, I'm not technician so I'm not what were that I have to put
in bugzilla for file these.

Thanks in advance for helping.

Xan.
